Denny Malarkey

Having served on the Foundation several years ago I had to take a leave of absence due to declining health issues with my wife Sandy who went “home to the Lord” in June 2011.  I rejoined the Board in 2012 to continue my focus on improving the quality, availability and maintenance of park sites my wife, family and friends enjoyed for many years.

• Member Roseville Central Parks Foundation Board of Directors – 5 years
• Roseville Park and Recreation Commissioner – 6 years
• Board Member Roseville Area Youth Hockey – 25 years
• Utilized the Central Park Victoria and Lexington fields as a player and coach since their inception and still play old-timers softball and stay involved with the adult teams at these fields.
• Purchased 2 memorial benches at Victoria Softball fields and one at the John Rose Oval in recognition of my wife Sandy who strongly supported my involvement in hockey and softball throughout the years.
• For many years celebrated Fourth of July at Central Park with family and friends.
• As a youth hockey coach utilized the outdoor skating rinks in parks throughout the city. In later years coached both boys and girls hockey at the high school level.

• Knighted by St. Paul Winter Carnival King Boreas for mentoring and youth activism – 1988
• North Suburban Gavel Association Distinguished Leadership Award – 1996
• Inductee USSSA Softball Hall of Fame – 2001
• Minnesota Hockey President’s Award – 2004
• Inductee ASA Softball Hall of Fame – 2012
• Inductee RAYHA Hall of Fame – 2012
