2017 Projects

In 2017, $88,000 was budgeted for projects, including the following:

~Bocce Ball Courts renovation, $33,949
This was a complete rebuild of the bocce ball courts. Through this project, a state of the art turf surface was installed. In addition, drainage issues that had been a problem in the past were corrected.

~Rocket Ship slide renovation, $15,150
The rocket ship is iconic in Central Park. This project gave it a much needed facelift. In addition to the sandblasting and painting, many safety upgrades were added including a wood fiber safety surfacing.

~Frank Rog Amphitheatre updates, $13,393
The amphitheater is one of the most treasured amenities in Central Park. It is home to our Summer Entertainment – Live @ The Rog series and many Rosefest activities. Wear and tear due to weather had started to take its toll on the facility. This project addressed those issues. A new asphalt shingle roof was installed as well as a complete paint job. This facility will continue to entertain residents and people from throughout the region for years to come.

~Harriet Alexander Nature Center deck work, $16,401
The nature center is one of the most beautiful and ecologically important places in the city. The deck on the building received new, higher railing to make it more functional, safe and esthetically more appealing.
