Endowment Fund

The Endowment Fund was created so that individuals and families could enhance Roseville Central Park and remember their loved ones at the same time. In 1990, Harriet Alexander, who loved to walk in Roseville Central Park, left a large bequest to Central Park which the Foundation used to build the Nature Center. There are other ways to participate in the endowment fund:

  • Cash Gifts: This is the simplest and most convenient giving option. All such gifts qualify for maximum deductions for income tax purposes.
  • Appreciated property: Gifts of appreciated securities or real estate create charitable deductions for full-market value and bypass capital gains tax.
  • Bequests: A charitable bequest of cash, appreciated property, or a portion of your estate through a will or revocable trust reduces potential income tax. This can also include beneficiary designation of retirement plan assets.
  • Annuity Trust or Gift Annuity: Made with cash, this option can provide you or others with fixed income payment while reducing income and estate tax. This can also be done with appreciated property.
  • Life Insurance: The gift of a life insurance policy allows leverage of premiums into a larger future benefit for the park. Current deductions allow for donor of premiums or cash surrender value.

Gifts in excess of $10,000 allow the donor to restrict the use of the funds for a particular project and create a “named fund” within the Endowment fund. Undesignated funds remain critical to addressing the changing needs of the park.

There are also other ways to donate such as charitable lead trust, unitrust or pooled income fund. For further information contact Dale Maristuen at (651) 780-9872, daleice@aol.com

The Roseville central Park foundation qualifies as a public charity under federal tax law.
